Deeds

Most of the Deeds below are available in three sizes full, medium and small. You can choose any of them based on what you want to do with the Deed. The small size is good to get a look at some of the detail and will load quickly. They are usually under a megabyte in size. Most of the Medium size Deeds will load in the web page and will show much more detail. Some of them will only offer the option of downloading them to your device. The full size will need to be downloaded to your device but will have much more detail. These range in sizes of 10s of megabytes to 100s of megabytes. Since most deeds are written on both sides, we will have both sides of the deed for viewing. Have fun viewing our Deed collection. The originals are available for viewing by appointment.

This deed is on long term loan to us from David G. Hein from Billings, Montana in memory of his parents Richard Earl Hein (1919-2012) and Frances Glockler Hein (1923-2013)

The first and oldest deed we have is from 1725 and it is also the last time that Tinicum Island was all owned by one person, Israel Taylor. In this deed he split up the land in three portions one part for each of his three sons. His daughter was not given land but was willed money.

This deed is interesting in that it gives access to the Delaware River for landing of boats. The location picture is approximate because the deed is from 1791, but the map is from the late 1800s. William Bingham owned about half a dozen parcels in this region of Tinicum

Even though this deed is just over the border between Tinicum and Philadelphia it does have some interesting language about the use of properties along Bow Creek and access to the Delaware River.
