Each appointment is 30 minutes long for no more than 3 objects of the SAME media. So, for example, someone can’t bring in 2 paintings and a book without an appointment BOTH in paintings and paper/book. But if they have 3 paintings, they can bring all of them to their painting’s appointment. This is because in only 30 minutes, there just isn’t enough time to examine more than 3 items.
Anyone can stop by the Preventive table though, before or after their appointment, or even just come to that with no appointment. At the Preventive table, there are samples of archival boxes and folders and handouts with suggestions for storage and exhibition. There is no examination of objects at the Preventive table, that’s just for the appointments with specialized conservators. It is at this table that we try very hard to have supplies to give to guests that are customized to the object they are bringing. That’s why we ask for approximate dimensions and detailed description of the object on the sign up form. We will bring appropriate sizes and quantities to suit whatever we expect to see at PopUp!
The one thing that will not happen at the pop-up is an appraisal of the objects.
Come and enjoy the Lazaretto and the river of course!
